What is an IBAN

IBAN stands for international bank account number. It is used for identifying individual accounts when sending or receiving international payments.

IBAN consists of up to 34 letters and numbers. It starts with a two-digit country code, followed by two check digits, and alphanumeric characters.

Where to find your IBAN

You can find your IBAN number on bank statements or by logging into your mobile banking account. 

Paysend customers in the UK and EEA countries can get and use their personal IBAN at Paysend. 

This is how you can get your personal IBAN at Paysend:

1. Tap on your Profile icon

2. Select the Limits option

3. Tap on the Increase limit link

4. Follow the steps as shown on the app

To find your IBAN in the Paysend app:

1. Choose the Accounts tab

2. Open your EUR account. If you don’t have one already, follow the below steps:
- Add or link new
- Select Add new currency
- Choose the EUR account

3. Then go back to your Accounts screen and open your EUR account.

4. Scroll down, and you’ll see your IBAN.

Is IBAN the same as SWIFT?

Both IBAN and SWIFT are used for identifying bank accounts when a transfer is being made from one country to another. 

The main difference between an IBAN and SWIFT code is that IBAN identifies an individual bank account, whereas a SWIFT code identifies a specific bank.
