2024-08-22

Paysend supports money transfers to India using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ID, enabling instant credit to bank accounts.

What is a UPI ID?

A UPI ID is a unique identifier that acts as a Virtual Payment Address (VPA) for making and receiving payments in India. It is typically similar to an email format and is specific to each user. Examples of a UPI ID are:
- recipientname@bank
- 1234567890@bank

Where 'recipientname' is an example username and '1234567890' is an example mobile number.

How do I send money using UPI?

To send money to India via Paysend using a UPI ID, follow these steps:
- Select UPI ID as the method to send money;
- Enter the recipient's UPI ID correctly.

Please note: The maximum limit for a single UPI transfer is 100,000 INR. If you need to send a higher amount, please opt for a bank transfer or card transfer instead.

How your recipient can generate a UPI ID
- Register through the mobile application of a participating bank (e.g. ICICI, SBI, HDFC).
- Alternatively, they can use dedicated UPI apps such as BHIM, PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and others.

UPI transfers offer a fast and secure way to send money, ensuring that your funds are quickly credited to the recipient's bank account without the need for bank account details.
